Interesting: 
Larry was the only band member with some musical experience. When he was fourteen years old he played the drums with the Artane Boys Band (check out INXS' album "Welcome To Wherever You Are") and he went on some tours through Ireland with the band, until he got kicked out because he had long hair. It was at that point when he decided to form a band of his own an placed a want ad on the bulletin board of his school looking for members -the rest, as they say, is history.
